IOL-Vip Classic

The IOL-Vip Classic was developed to provide patients with macular degeneration an improvement in their central vision. With this new procedure, two lenses are inserted into the eye. One inserted in the capsular bag and the second one in the anterior chamber.
Together these lenses behave like a telescope, offering to the patient a slight magnification of the image and a deviation towards a healthy part of the retina (PRL). This preferential fixation point assumes the role of pseudo-macula, giving the patient suffering from macular degeneration a better view.
The potential improvement in vision can be pre-tested with the use of the IOL-Vip simulator. During this test, the patient experiences which can be the result already before surgery.
Subsequently, the patients are trained to use the vision provided by the telescopic system via simple exercises. The customized exercises takes about 30 minutes per day for a few weeks.
The IOL-VIP systems can help patients with macular degeneration (dry or wet type) or with other forms of macular diseases (eg, macular holes, degenerative myopia, Stargardt, etc..).
